My Background

Beginnings and path.

I was given my first camera as a present when I was 11 while living for half a year in Germany. Since then, a major thread in my photography has been recording the look and hopefully feel of where I have travelled for work or vacation. Transitioning from film to digital SLR in the late 2000s. Discovering how cheap digital film was, triggered a lot of exploration of new genres. Since I was already travelling for my professional work, serious amateur photography continued to be a passion that complimented and benefited from my day job.

Building on photography of places where I was working, during the 2010s my focus started working through specific genres with new intensity. I was particularly intrigued with how different genres interacted with each other. This started to involve shooting for events and organizations I was involved with and lead to an increasing interest in documentary photography as something that applied many (if not all) genres to a narrative.

With my day job having a largely scientific and engineering side to the the business, photography has very much been an artistic escape. Building a narrative series of images whether for a portrait, travel or message and thinking about how to get them into a physical, print form is the common thread of things I'm currently working on.

Vision and projects.

Vision is often a process that starts with an initial idea and grows along with exploration. Success in vision can take several cycles.

Projects are at every scale from a simple, well defined shoot to a long term journey where the result will be discovered.
